摘要 |
PURPOSE:To develop an improved material for magneto-optical element, satisfying all conditions required in Faraday rotator, by subjecting Bi-substituted rare earth iron garnet to epitaxial growth on a GGG substrate having a high lattice constant. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic garnet single crystal as Bi-substituted rare earth iron garnet having a composition shown by formula [II] is grown on a GGG substrate having a high lattice constant as a garnet single crystal substrate having a composition shown by formula [I]. (x and y in the formula [II] are in x+y<=2.2, x<=y and y=-2.3X21X(12.63-a) and a is lattice constant of the garnet single crystal and 12.48-12.53Angstrom ). A material for magneto-optical element having a small temperature coefficient of Faraday rotation angle and small saturation magnetization is obtained.
