An elongate cylindrical reactor for producing is operated by feeding hydrocarbon fuel together with a stoichiometric excess of an oxidant gas contg. at least 70 vol.% oxygen into the upstream and completely burning, introducing liq. aromatic-rich hydrocarbon feedstock into the turbulent combustion gases to form a carbon black aerosol, quenching pyrolysis, discharging from the downstream end and filtering off the carbon black. |
