PURPOSE: To maintain a synchronization between a film and video editing part by recording desired edition decision on a film format related with a video master, and then re-processing those decisions according to a protocol. CONSTITUTION: Each film frame is identified as a video scan type, and there are four possible video scan types A-D. A time error in an editing part is stored in a counter, a protocol is developed, and a traveling time error between a film and a video is stored in a register. This traveling time error is acknowledged, and the time error is maintained less than a±video field by looking at one of the film frame video scan types A-D concerning that this system is in edition (IN) or out of edition (OUT), and adding or subtracting full video fields. Afterwards, the full traveling time errors are re-calculated, and this processing is repeatedly operated. Thus, a voice editing part related with a film and a video editing part related with a video can be exchanged.
