In a press chamber housing 1, especially for the manufacture of casting moulds or casting mould parts of moulding sand, and the press chamber 2 of which is covered with removable wear plates 3-6, the novelty resides in the fact that each wear plate 3, 4, 5, 6 bears with one edge surface 7, 8, 9, 10 against the adjoining wear plate 4, 5, 6, 3, whilst at the other end it is the opposite adjoining wear plate 6, 3, 4, 5, which with its edge surface bears against the peripheral area of the inside of the wear plate. This arrangement makes it possible to manufacture wear plates with essentially freer tolerances in respect of the linear dimension as measured in the direction of the interval between two adjoining wear plates, so that a corresponding cost saving is achieved compared to wear plates previously used, in which the relevant linear dimension (for example in the design plane) had to meet strict tolerance conditions in order to achieve the required accuracy in the press chamber 2. At the same time differences are permitted in thermal expansion or contraction between the press chamber housing 1 and the wear plates 3, 4, 5, 6. <IMAGE>
