<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To widen the range of utilizing iron scrap to steel products where the steel scrap is heretofore unusable as the raw material by efficiently and cost-effectively removing the impurities, such as copper, tin or antimony accompanying the solid steel scrap. SOLUTION: The impurities, such as copper, tin or antimony are removed from solid steel scrap by bringing molten zinc into contact therewith. Further, the molten zinc in which the impurities are concd. is distilled to separate and recover the impurities from the zinc. The regenerated zinc is repetitively used for removing the impurities from the steel scrap.</p> |
