Simple synchronous magnetic coupling with cylindrical airgap

Coaxial driving and driven rotors have a cylindrical airgap and use cylindrical permanent magnets on their periphery to transmit torque. The cylindrical permanent magnets may be arranged with their magnetic and geometric axes parallel to the axis of rotation and varying numbers of pole pairs may be used. One or more permanent magnets may be used to form each pole pair and the driving and driven rotors may or may not have the same number of pole pairs. The cylindrical permanent magnets may also be magnetised along an axis which is perpendicular to the geometric axis and to the axis of rotation.
