PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve seating comfortableness without generating rapid acceleration/deceleration when automatically controlling acceleration/deceleration the traveling speed of an own vehicle to properly keep a distance between cars. SOLUTION: An acceleration/deceleration ratio is calculated from a difference from a present distance between cars for a stored target distance between cars (step 332) and target speed is calculated from this calculated acceleration/ deceleration ratio (step 333). Continuously, the calculated target speed is limited so as not to remarkably away from present speed (step 334), a difference of target speed and present speed is determined (step 335), and a difference of target speed and present speed is compared with each of -4, -9, -3, and -1 (step 336 to 339).
