<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply unit for a vehicle, capable of effectively preventing over discharge of a battery with a solar battery. <P>SOLUTION: Electric power generated by a solar battery module 1 charges a plurality of battery blocks, formed by dividing a battery for motor drive by each prescribed voltage, thereby being supplied to battery block charging circuits 3, provided to a plurality of battery blocks respectively. In order to charge a battery for general load, the electric power is supplied to the battery charging circuit 4 for general load. The battery charge operation by the battery block charging circuit 3 and the battery charging circuit 4 for a general load is controlled by the control circuit 5 for controlling the charge operation, on basis of the detected charging current, generated voltage, charging voltage, battery temperature or the like.
