ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTING APPARATUS FOR CONTINUOUS PAPER AND ITS FIXING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a stable paper traveling property and to obtain always stable printing quality by correcting the meandering of paper in the axis direction of a heat roll independently of paper traveling states such as the start of paper traveling and a stable state of paper in a fixing device for an electrophotographic printing apparatus.

SOLUTION: The fixing device is provided with a holding/carrying mechanism consisting of the heat roll and a pressure roll formed so as to pressurize the heat roll with contact and a mechanism for correcting paper meandering detected by a paper meandering sensor by changing the balance of holding force generated by the pressure roll and the heat roll. A plurality of pieces of the relation of holding force balance to the meandering rate of paper meandering data outputted from the paper meandering sensor and the relation of holding force balance to the meandering rate variations of paper meandering data per unit time are stored in a storage device built in the fixing device. While monitoring the paper traveling state by changes in paper meandering data outputted from the paper meandering sensor at any time from the start of printing so that paper traveling is stabilized and paper meandering rate is minimized, the relation of holding force balance to the meandering rate and the relation of holding force balance to the variation of the meandering rate are optionally selected to control a paper traveling position.
