A peg on the component to be clamped engages in a bore in a ball joint in the centre of a plate or disc which is fitted so as to move laterally in a two part housing and which can be clamped by compression of the housing components, the compression force being provided b y a spring. There are cut-outs in the centre parts of a two-part housing with the plate or disc trapped between them so that it can float or be clamped. The compression of the two housing component is performed by tightening bolts.
