Morphanthridine deriv based antidepressive prepn. - contg. diazepam to increase initial tranquillising effect

A new pharmaceutical prepn. comprises (A) 7-chloro-2,3-dihydro-1-methyl-5-phenyl-1H-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one (I) or its hydrochloride or other compatible salts, (B) 5-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-11-methylne-5,6-dihydro-morphanthridine (II) or its maleate or other compatible salts and (C) a suitable carrier. The prepn. is used for oral or parenteral treatment of various depressive disorders, esp. psychovegetative syndromes. (I) increases the tranquillising effect of (II), esp. during the initial phase of treatment, without giving an increased soporific effect.
