Flotation process for grading particles of different densities - using liq. of specified gravity with ultrasonic beam

In a process for sorting particles or components of different density into ranges, with one range being above a certain density and the other below it; the particles are mixed with a flotation material of specified density; the particles are agitated in the flotation material ultrasonically at such a frequency and strength that the particles of one size density range rise to the surface while the remainder sink to the bottom; and the particles of the first density range are removed from the surface. A liq. is used as flotation material. The first range of particles are decanted off and the decantation and ultrasonic treatment can be repeated several times. The process is used to sepg. light and heavy particles; esp. for use in sepg. semi-conductor materials where faulty components are to be sepd. from good ones. The soldering metal is removed from the faulty components, and they become lighter.
