PURPOSE:To produce an acrylic monomer in high quality and yield, by heating and refluxing an ester adduct under reduced pressure prior to the reaction to lower the water content of the adduct below a specific level, adding an amino compound and a catalyst to the adduct and carrying out the reaction under refluxing. CONSTITUTION:An ester adduct of formula I (X is CH2 or O) e.g. bicyclo[2,2,1]heptene-5-carboxylic acid ester-2 and an amino compound of formula II (Y is OH or NH2; R1 and R2 are H or alkyl; n is 1-4) or formula III are distilled and dehydrated in a reactor prior to the reaction until the water- content of the above components reaches <=0.08wt%. The dehydrated mixture is added with a catalyst and made to react under refluxing to obtain an acrylic adduct of formula IV (Z is O or NH) or formula V, which is converted to the objective acrylic monomer of formula VI or VII by thermal decomposition and fractionation. USE:Raw materials of a cationic polymer flocculant for the treatment of waste water, an agent for improving yield of neutral paper, an antistatic agent, etc. |
