Hydraulically-bound refractory concrete contg. a filler with addition of 5-17 wt.% of high-alumina cement and an active alumina additive is improved in that the filler consists of crushed (6.3 mm), spent stones from glass-melting tanks (fused ZrO2-Al2O3-SiO2); the filler is used in an amt. of 55-90 wt.% w.r.t. the whole compsn. This refractory concrete is esp. suitable for the construction of kilns for cement firing. The crushed stones from glass-melting tanks contain some adhering glass whereby the concrete acquires high abrasion resistance, esp. in the range 700-1200 degrees C. which is important for cement-firing. The utilisation of wastes greatly reduces the price of the refractory concrete. |
