<p>Continuous casing or trough profiles are made by impregnating a filler (I) with a binder resin (II) injected at the base of a hopper for a ram extruder. The extrudate is consolidated and advanced with heating as appropriate until the profile form is stable, then cut to length before leaving the machine. (I) is a wool of wood, glass, etc., opt made just prior to feeding. (II) is a foamed resin, a reactive gum mixt. or a rapid curing resin injected as a spray via more than one inlet at the base of the hopper. Provides a highly automated process for producing casings which can be cut to suit various sizes of mechanical sorter etc. The composite material provides both mechanical strength and thermal insulation without requiring supplementary covers or supports or handwork finishing.</p> |
