The material is drawn through the die by means of clamps. The clamps are mounted on slides which move to and from in the direction of drawing. The clamps grip the material alternately. A guide unit is mounted before the die. The guide unit consists of two sets of rollers which are mounted behind one another in the direction of drawing. The rollers are accurately aligned with the opening in the drawing die, so that the sides of the die opening are released from unsymmetric side loads. The rollers are aligned with the die by means of screw spindles and gears which are operated by hand wheels.
