A distance setting indicator for a camera viewfinder uses a flexible electric connection between the distance setting controls on the taking lens and the viewfinder regulates the illuminated display superimposed on it. The flexible connections allow extending optics to be used without requiring a complex mechanical interconnection. The display is symbolic with indicators, or LEDs defining the size of the object, i.e. corresponding to distance and a symbolic scale over which the markers move.
