The arrangement is intended for the opening unit producing the fibres for an open-end spinning machine in which this unit comprises a pin cylinder or a cylinder with saw tooth assembly. This cylinder is further provided with a number of short blades whose aerodynamic action produces an air flow pattern around the cylinder which orientates the fibres to improve the action of the pins or teeth thereon resulting in more uniformly parallel fibres and better fibre release which reduces the risk of clogging. The pins may be placed at an angle to the cylinder surface.(Fl).
