PURPOSE: To provide a matrix-type array for reducing the number of external connections without increasing manufacture cost or complication. CONSTITUTION: Plural light emitting diodes 60 which are provided with anodes 64 and cathodes 63 and which are divided into rows and columns are provided. The conductors 62 and 65 in the row and the column are arranged so that they respectively correspond to the row and the column of the diodes 60. The nodes and the cathodes are inversely connected in alternate columns. In the respective row conductors, the cathodes and the anodes are mutually connected and the respective row conductors to which the anodes are connected are connected to the row conductors to which the cathodes are connected. Thus, the number of inputs can be reduced to a half. The specified columns in respective pairs are addressed by applying positive or negative signals b0 to respective inputs.
