PURPOSE: To improve the toughness of twisting characteristics and coiling and uncoiling characteristics in a high strength low heat expansion alloy wire used to the tension member of an overhead transmission line objective to the capacity increasing, particularly, an Fe-Ni alloy wire having >=100kg/mm<2> tensile strength. CONSTITUTION: In the high strength low expansion alloy wire using Fe-Ni base alloy as a stock, surface-descaling remaining compressive stress is executed at least one time or more. The surface descaling is executed to >=50μm thickness and further, after surface descaling or during wire-drawing after surface descaling, at least one time of stress refief-annealing is executed at 550-700 deg.C to produce the high strength low heat expansion alloy wire.
