PURPOSE: To obtain a polyarylate resin soln. compsn. which gives a polyarylate film useful for optical, electric, and electronic apparatuses by dissolving a polyarylate resin in a methylene chloride-based solvent mixture contg. a small ant. of a specific alcohol. CONSTITUTION: This compsn. comprises 10 pts.wt. polyarylate resin and 15-90 pts.wt. solvent mixture comprising 99-90wt.% solvent (A) which contains 60wt.% or higher methylene chloride and has the capability of dissolving a polyarylate resin and 1-10wt.% 1-6C aliph. alcohol (B). Solvent A is pref. methylene chloride alone. The compsn. wherein solvent B is ethanol is still pref.
