Pulp is produced by impregnating a suitable raw material with a digestion soln., the impregnated material is subjected to a high temperature, and the pulp is then prepared. At least one of the first two of these steps is carried under the influence of sound with a frequency in the range 0.01 to 50 kHz. Also claimed is pulp made using the process.
