PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate positional shift between respective colors on an image receiving medium and to stabilize the position, diameter and shape of a dot on an image receiving medium. SOLUTION: An air flow 7 is ejected at a constant speed into an air flow pipe 2 to touch and tear up inks 4Y, 4C pushed out from ink supply ports 3Y, 3C. The torn up ink flies as ink drops 5Y, 5C on the air flow 7 forming an air flow ejection passage 8 in a specified direction and combined through contact before arriving at an image receiving medium 9. The combined ink drop forms a desired color as a mixed ink drop 6 and impinges on the image receiving medium 9 as an ink dot 6a. In such a color image forming apparatus, the ink supply ports 3Y, 3C are disposed at a most downstream position of the air flow pipe 2, a plurality of print heads 1 are arrange in zigzag, air having humidity controlled at a specified level or above is employed as the air flow 7 and the velocity thereof is controlled depending on the distance between the print head 1 and the image receiving medium 9. |
