PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of efficiently decomposing a hardly- decomposable aromatic compound such as harmful dioxins, Coplanar PCBs by a microorganism excellent in stability of enzyme production and making the aromatic compound harmless. SOLUTION: In decomposing >=6C hardly-decomposable aromatic compounds such as dioxins, Coplanar PCBs, bisphenols, alkylphenols, halogenated phenols and phthalic esters, this method for decomposing the hardly decomposable compound is characterized in that the hardly-decomposable compound is bought into contact with a laccase and/or a laccase producing microorganism.
