PURPOSE: A real time certificate inquiry system and method is provided to enable a certificate user to receive real time status and updated data of the certificate, to store them at a user system, and to directly use the stored certificate without accessing a certificate authority. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a certificate owner(301), a certificate user system, and a certificate authority system. The certificate user system includes a certificate management server(303) and a service server(302). The certificate authority system includes a certificate server(305), a certificate status management server(304) and a database. The certificate management server(303) requests a certificate status information to the certificate status management server(304), and offers the certificate status information to the service server(302). The service server(302) checks the certificate status information, and offers a registration or a withdrawal of the certificate owner to the certificate status management server(304). The certificate server(303) offers an updated information of the certificate owner to the certificate status management server(304). The certificate status management server(304) stores the status information at the database, and transmits it to the certificate user system registered in a certificate authority.
