<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for observing the high-altitude neutral air precisely over a wide area. <P>SOLUTION: Ion particles are injected from a prescribed ion source to be captured by a line of magnetic force of the earth. Then, the ion particles are collided with the high-altitude neutral air to generate charge exchange, and a high-speed neutral particles are generated thereby and captured. A distance from at least one out of an injection position of the ion particles and a capturing position of the high-speed neutral particles up to the high-altitude neutral air is identified based on a time difference between an injection time of the ion particles and a captured time of the high-speed neutral particles, and a direction of the high-altitude neutral air is identified based on a capture direction of the high-speed neutral particles, so as to identify a spatial position of the high-altitude neutral air. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
