The garment (1), especially for women, has zones (2, 3, 4) in darker colours than the remainder of the garment to give an enhanced visual appearance of the wearer's silhouette. The darker-coloured zones are designed to create a shadow effect and are located, for instance, above and below the bust and round the waist of a top. On pants the shading can be used to emphasise or draw attention away from the hips or thighs. The shaded effects can be produced by printing, a variable weave or knit, or a design that is denser in certain zones.
