PURPOSE:To prevent the liquid leakage of a battery by laying a film made of such a substance as is insoluble in an electrolyte at a nobler electric potential than that at which a negative active material is soluble between a container lid and a brush which a negative-electrode terminal penetrates. CONSTITUTION:A negative-electrode terminal 1 of a negative plate 2 penetrates a brush 4 which is buried in a container lid 3, and the lower part of the terminal 1 touches an electrolyte 5. Both the negative-electrode terminal 1 and the brush 4 are made of a lead alloy and are unified. A film 1' is made of such a substance as lead dioxide which is insoluble in an electrolyte at a nobler electric potential than that at which a negative active material is soluble. The film 1' is laied between the brush 4 and the lid 3 which is made of a synthetic resin, thereby the liquid leakage of a battery being obviated. The film 1' is formed by conducting strong-oxidation treatment like applying an alkaline potassium permanganate solution. In addition, the thickness of the film 1' may be less than 1mum. |
