PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance while maintaining superior magnetic characteristics by a method wherein a small amount of V is included in a metal magnetic vapor film of Co-Ni group in a magnetic tape forming a metal magnetic evaporation film of Co-Ni group. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic evaporation film having composition consisting 0- 30% Ni (by weigh %, the same shall apply hereinafter), 0.5-12% V, 3.0-11.0% O, and residual, Co is formed on a tape base material. Of which, Ni is included at a ratio of up to 30% to improve the corrosion resistance of the metal magnetic evaporation film composing Co as a main substance, and residual magnetic flux density decreases if the contents of Ni exceeds 30%, V is added to improve the corrosion resistance of the evaporation film and adding effect is not good at 0.5% or less and magnetic characteristics remarkably decrease if the contents of V exceeds 12%. O is included by partially combining with metal when a thin film is formed and a part of the others is included by being adsorbed in the film layer with an evaporation substance. |
