The invention relates to a method of actuating appliances, in particular radiator valves, attached to a closed, liquid-filled pipe system, in particular a hot-water heating system, and apparatus for this. According to the invention, the pressure in the pipe system is specifically increased for transmitting the control and regulating signal. Fitted into the attached appliances are slave devices which react to the pressure increase and perform a positional change. The pressure increase is preferably to be performed periodically in a time-dependent manner, as a result of which a time-dependent remote adjustment of the temperature setting at heating valves of the hot-water heating systems is made possible. <IMAGE>
