PURPOSE: To provide a biological recognition layer applicable to a biochemical sensor and production method thereof. CONSTITUTION: A biological recognition layer comprises a biological recognition molecule including a molecular region fixed covalently to a solid phase and bonded to a substance to be analyzed while recognizing the substance, and a molecular region which does not recognize the substance to be analyzed or is not bonded thereto. The biological recognition layer is fixed covalently such that the molecular region for recognizing the substance to be analyzed is located remote from the surface of the solid phase and the molecular region for recognizing and bonding the substance to be analyzed is directed preferably and insusceptibly to the covalent bond. The molecular region which does not recognizing the substance to be analyzed is bonded to a phase for arranging the recognition molecule and having a special bonding position for arranged adsorption of biological recognition molecule.
