PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve noise immunity by increasing the gain of a solid-state image pickup device of an active pixel configuration. SOLUTION: In the solid-state image pickup device, a voltage follower configuration is adopted for amplifier transistors(TRs) 103, 113 amplifying an output of a diode 101 being a photoelectric conversion section. The gain to amplify signals from each pixel is set to be a unity gain by the amplifier TRs 103, 113 adopting a voltage follower configuration and the amplification factor is improved in this amplifier circuit more than an amplifier circuit of a conventional source follower configuration. Furthermore, a switching TR is inserted corresponding to a row selection TR to enhance the symmetry of the differential amplifier circuit.
