PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the continuity of recording data recorded in a recording medium. SOLUTION: In recording operation, inputted data read from a buffer memory 13 are modulated by an encoder to generate recorded data, and the recording data are recorded in an optical disk 32. When a state where buffer under run occurs in the memory 13 is reached during the recording operation, the recording data modulated at the point of time are recorded in the optical disk and the recording operation is interrupted from the next recording data. After then, when the state where buffer under run occurs is avoided, reproducing operation is started after returning by the portion of the prescribed number of the sectors of the disk 32 and recording operation is restarted from the recording data next to the recording data where the recording operation is interrupted. Before the restart of the recording operation, an interruption/restart circuit 43 interrupts the operation of an encoder 14 in such timing that recording data are outputted by the encoder 14 at at a low level at the time of interruption of the recording operation. Thus, the laser power of an optical head 4 becomes weak when the recording operation is restarted.
