PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for preventing or improving a reduction in moisture retention ability of the skin adsorption of moisture retention factor of the skin caused by photoirradiation or stress. SOLUTION: This cosmetic contains 1,2-pentanediol and isoprene glycol. The weight ratio of content of 1,2-pentanediol to isoprene glycol is 1:3-3:1. The cosmetic can contain one or more kinds of moisture retention moisture- retaining organism analog substances selected from a polymethacryloyloxyethoxyphosphatidylcholine, sodium hyaluronate, sulfated trehalose, sulfated trehalose salt and a heparin analog substance.
