PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of screening the kind and the concentration of a surface active agent suitable for solubilizing a membrane protein complex. SOLUTION: According to this method, a surface active agent can be efficiently screened using a unit (tube) for dispensing different kinds of surface active agents at different concentration in a tube having eight parts corresponding to a multi-channel pipet, a unit (plate) for preparing a buffer solution for solubilization and a buffer solution for density gradient centrification, a centrifugal tube unit for solubilization, and a separation unit using density gradient centrification for solubilized protein.
