The propulsion mechanism consists of a lever (1) pivoting about a fulcrum (2) on a housing, with its shorter end connected via a pivot (6) and rod (7) to a crank pin (8). The alternating motion of the lever between its upper (PMH) and lower (PMB) positions causes the rod to reciprocate and rotate a crank plate (20) on a shaft (19) carrying a driving flywheel (10). The lever is made from a metal tube passed through a drawing head to give it a streamlined lozenge-shaped cross-section. The lever's fulcrum is formed by a block with an aperture of similar crosssection for the lever to pass through, the block having a pivot pin on either side.
