<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high nonlinearity optical fiber which substantially functions as a single mode fiber. <P>SOLUTION: The high nonlinearity optical fiber is characterized in that a loss layer 5 which selectively provides loss only to a high order mode is provided in the optical fiber. The high nonlinearly optical fiber preferably has a center core part 1 whose specific refraction index difference is within a range of 0.010 to 0.040 and outer diameter is within a range of 2 to 6μm, a second core part 2 provided on the periphery of the center core part, whose refraction index is lower than that of the center core part, specific refraction index difference is within a range of -0.020 to 0.000 and outer diameter is within a range of 5 to 10μm, a third core part provided on the periphery of the second core part, whose refraction index is lower than that of the center core part, higher than that of the second core part, specific refraction index difference is within a range of 0.000 to 0.020 and outer diameter is within a range of 7 to 15μm and a clad part 4 provided on the periphery of the third core part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
