<p>1496173 Analyzing exhaust emission LARS COLLIN CONSULT AB 14 Feb 1975 [5 March 1974] 6301/75 Heading G1B The emission content (carbon monoxide, unburnt hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides) of exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine is determined by a method wherein a given volume proportion of the exhaust gases separated from the gases in line 13 over a given period of time is collected in an intermediate container 14 from which at least a predetermined volume is led through at least two parallel gas analysis tubes 16, each tube 16 containing a medium for indicating the presence of a specific compound in the gases, steps being taken to ensure that known volume fractions of the predetermined volume are passed through tubes 16. The tubes 16 may be mounted in a casing (22) Fig. 2 (not shown), with their outlet ends in communication with respective capillary tubes all of which have the same resistance to flow. Container 14 may be a bag-like member surrounded by a heatable fluid which can be pumped to and from vessel 18 to increase or reduce pressure in the container.
