PURPOSE:To convert to an optional gradation property, by executing simple processings such as PCM conversion, overlapped control and recomposition, etc., to the gradation property of a picture shown by an input picture signal. CONSTITUTION:An input picture signal is provided to the A-D converter 1, it is converted to a PCM picture signal of (n) bits, and also the input picture signal is provided to the conversion indicating pulse generator 8, as well. Said PCM picture signal is provided to the decoding demultiplexer 9, in which 2n kinds of level discrimination signals corresponding to the picture level of 2n stages contained in the PCM picture signal are generated. And said 2n kinds of level discrimination signals, and 2n kinds of process control signals which respectively have the value conforming with the desired gradation property generated by the process control part 10 are provided to the gradation property processor 4', and whenever 2n kinds of level discrimination signals are received, an analog signal of a new gradation property having the desired weight designated by the process control signal is output. |
