PURPOSE:To obtain titled display capable of genunine black color display with reduced red color display component, by the use of a balck liquid crystal material having a dichromatic dye-mixed composition containing dyes of specified chemical structure with maximum absorbance at specific wavelength. CONSTITUTION:The objective display can be obtained by the use of a black liquid crystal material having a dichromatic dye-mixed composition containing pref. at least two kinds of dyes with maximum absorbance at ca. 760mmu, expressed by the formula (n, l, m, and x are each integer >=1, or zero) (e.g., two kinds of anthraquinone dyes with maximum absorbances at 758 and 764mmu, respectively).
