A casing 8 encloses a drive mechanism 17 to 19, 21, 22 for driving a roller 1. A lever 29 ends in a blade 33 capable of laterally straddling the roller. A handle 42 of the casing and an arm 41 of the lever may be seized together in order to displace the blade 33 and start the operation of the motor 17 by means of a switch 52. The handle and the arm extend in the opposite direction from the roller, relative to the casing. The roller is retractable, against a spring 67 when the lateral wall of a preserve can bears against it, whilst the blade 33, pivoting about the spindle 31 of the lever, is driven into the lid of this can. Use for making handling easier, reducing the force to be exerted for perforation and making the apparatus adaptable to any type of can, possibly a deformed can. <IMAGE>
