Certain physical disabilities make it impossible to pull on stockings, trousers and the like oneself because it is impossible to reach one's own feet with the hands while standing, sitting or lying. The aid is intended to permit stockings and the like to be pulled on or off by people suffering from these disabilities. For pulling-on of stockings and the like an aid has a shoe horn-like extension which is located on one end of a rod and has on its outside a clamping device releasable via an actuation means located at a distance from the extension on the rod. The stocking to be pulled on is clamped in the clamping device of the shoe horn-like extension and pulled over the foot with the aid. The aid is then released from the stocking via the actuation means.
