The invention relates to a drafting unit on a spinning machine, especially on a drafting frame, with pairs of rollers consisting of upper roller 1 with a roller core 4 and covering 5 and of a lower roller 2. According to the invention, the upper roller 1 is provided with a cooling system. With this, the upper roller 1 can be cooled by means of an air stream guided through its interior. At the same time, the air stream can be generated by a pressure generator 7, whilst, instead of this, there is also the possibility of a self-generating stream of cooling air. <IMAGE>
