The subject of the present invention is a novel type of contactor for a small-pitch keyboard of the alphanumeric type. The contactor is notable in particular in that the cap 9 comprises four inclined lateral faces, one convex upper face 10 off-centred towards the rear so as to reduce the risks of simultaneously pressing plural contactors. Furthermore, the cap is provided with two lugs 11 projecting downwards and which engage forcibly into the housing 12 of the plunger 8 on either side of a diametral rib 13 for reinforcing the plunger. The electro-conducting element 4 of the contactor is carried by a deformable membrane 3 designed so that the curve representing the relationship between the force applied to the cap and the distance travelled by the cap has a slope which is positive, then zero, then negative until contact is established. <IMAGE>
