Procedure for polymerization and copolymerization of ethylene with other α-olefins in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta type catalytic system that is resistant to the usual catalytic poisons of this type of catalyst, such as oxygen and moisture. The catalytic system is made up of mixtures of two components A and B. Component A is a catalytic solid of the general formula (MgCl2)a(TiXCl3)b, where X is a cyclopentadiene derivative and B is an organoaluminium compound or a mixture of organoaluminium compounds.
