METHOD FOR DETERMINING LIPIDS AND CAROTINOIDS PRESENCE IN PELOIDS

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves carrying out complete extraction with caratinoids in Soxlet apparatus from humid mud with following determination of lipids and caratinoids. Lipids are determined from mass difference between dried remainder of acetone extract aliquote portion and mineral salts and sulfur containing therein. Carotinoids are determined by measuring optical density in 10 mm thick cells at 450 nm wavelength and using specific absorption coefficient equal to 2550 (optical density of 1% beta-carotene solution when optical path length is equal to 1 cm) in calculations.
