PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyurethane foam which can effectively prevent heat generation on its production without adding a PRTR target substance such as methylene chloride and polyethylene powder whose effect is low, when not added in a large amount, and to provide a method for producing the polyurethane foam. SOLUTION: This polyurethane foam obtained by subjecting a polyol component and an isocyanate component to mixing, stirring and foaming treatments is characterized by using water as a foaming agent in the polyol component, adding water-containing thermoplastic synthetic resin particles to at least one of the polyol component and the isocyanate component, and leaving open cell thermoplastic synthetic resin porous particles formed by evaporating the water from the water-containing thermoplastic synthetic resin particles, in the polyurethane foam after foamed.
