The invention relates to a lifting column with a lifting element driven by a motor for motor-vehicle hoists, goods stackers and aircraft parking platforms. In hitherto known lifting columns, each lifting prop has a spindle with a nut held in such a way as to be axially displaceable but rotatable inside the lifting column. However, known devices of this type have the disadvantage that they are relatively costly, especially since they have the actual supporting column as static supporting member and a spindle as actuating member, which, however, is additionally active as a support member likewise carrying the lifting load, which will very likely result in the need for repairs. The object of the invention is to create an improved supporting column with which these disadvantages can be avoided. This object is achieved in that a supporting column 2 is provided with an internal thread which meshes with the external thread of a lifting bolt 4 mounted in such a way that it can be rotationally driven in the inner hollow space 3 of the supporting column 2, and in that the supporting column has a longitudinal slot 8 through which cross pieces 9, 9' in driving connection with the lifting bolt 4 extend to the outside, which cross pieces 9, 9' are connected to a slide 10 carrying a supporting arm 11. <IMAGE>
