In the application of printed matter to bags which are produced in the manner known as "converting", in which tubular sheet packaging material is gusseted, flattened and welded across a transverse line and then severed transversely adjacent to the weld, so that separate open ended bags are produced, the closed end of the bag being formed by the material on both sides of the weld, printed matter is applied to both the obverse and reverse faces of the material at positions adjacent to the line of a transverse weld, but one of the sets of printed matter has the top ends of its characters leading, whereas the other has the bottom ends of its characters leading. As a result, both sets of printed matter appear in the same orientation on the end of the finished bag. <IMAGE> |
