OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM AND RECORDING METHOD

PURPOSE: An optical recording medium and recording method provides a sector structure in which a user area of a basic recording unit is divided into a first desired size and a second desired size, thereby reducing an overhead amount. CONSTITUTION: An optical recording medium comprises a header area showing an address information and a user area in a basic recording unit, wherein the header area is arranged in every basic recording unit of a first desired size, and a minimum recording unit of the user area is assigned into a second desired size. In the medium, the first desired size is 4 kbytes and the second desired size is 2 kbytes. A wobble pit pattern is formed at a boundary for logically dividing the user area into the maximum recording unit. A recording method thereof comprises steps of reading the address information of the header area and addressing the information to the basic recording unit, and logically dividing the addressed user area in the basic recording unit and then recording information.
